Bread kunafa. Kunafa is a traditional Arabic dessert recipe using kunafa dough and cream cheese. Those who tasted it once can’t forget the melt in mouth soft and cheesy delight. As i’m residing in Kerala it’s hard to find the kunafa dough and cream cheese here; So i decided to make it’s alternative version with bread.
Here instead of the kanafa dough, bread crumbs are used. Instead of the akawi cheese, I filled the dessert with thick cream and mozzarella cheese. Bake this till golden and crisp and serve with a thick and fragrant sugar syrup and devour. You can have Bread kunafa using 13 ingredients and 15 steps. Here is how you achieve it.
Ingredients of Bread kunafa
- Prepare of Bread slices - 12.
- It’s 1/2 cup of Melted butter -.
- You need 1/2 cup of Thick cream -.
- You need 1/2 cup of Mozzarella cheese -.
- Prepare 1/2 cup of Pista -.
- It’s 1 cup of Sugar -.
- Prepare 1 cup of Water -.
- It’s Half of lemon juice.
- It’s of For making thick cream:.
- You need 1/2 cup of Milk:.
- It’s of Fresh cream or milk pack cream 1/2 cup.
- Prepare 2 tsp of Sugar:.
- It’s 1 tsp of Corn flour:.
This needs just a handful of ingredients and is super easy. I will soon share a traditional version of it soon, but this one is made with bread. Sri Krishna Sweets Mysore Pak Recipe. The bread I used was Luisine, so any bread that is as big and as square as that can be used.
Bread kunafa instructions
- Grind the bread and make a bread crumbs….
- Mix melted butter with breadcrumbs..
- Now take a pan add cream,milk,sugar and mix well.
- Add cornflour mix in 2 tablespoon milk and make a paste.
- Add in the pan..cook untill get thick mixture.
- Now thick cream ready.
- Mix cream with cheese and pista.
- 3. In a baking tray first, add breadcrumbs top with the cream filling again top it up with breadcrumbs..
- 4. Bake it at 180 degrees preheated oven for 20 minutes..
- 5. Boil the sugar with water, add lemon juice.
- 6. After baking flip it on to a plate.
- And pour the hot syrup on top of it..
- And decorat with chop pista.
- For best results use lock pan.

Including the crust gave it a darker shade but definitely no effect on the taste. If you don’t like to use the crusts, then maybe use a couple of bread slices extra to keep. Layer half of the buttery kunafa dough in this greased pan and press down lightly and evenly. Drop roasted sweet coconut mixture, top it with some nuts. While the kanafa is baking, prepare the syrup.
